Onion Gravy

This is not like the gravy that SW have just bought into Iceland stores, this is more of a traditional onion gravy with just 1 syn for the whole caboodle! For me, onion gravy just has to be white onions as it is how mum has always made it but you can use whatever your heart desires!

2 Large white onions, cut in half, peeled and sliced,

1 tbsp cornflour *1 syn

400ml beef stock (you can use chicken or vegetable stock but for me, it HAS to be beef!)

salt and pepper

  1. In a pan turn the heat to medium and saute the onions with some low-calorie cooking spray and a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Add a splash of the stock and cook until the onions are completely soft (can take 15 to 20 minutes so add more stock if needed and leave it to do it’s thing!
  3. Mix the cornflour in-to the remaining stock and pour it into the onion mix.
  4. Stir every so often for the next 10 minutes or until the gravy thickens.

I hope you all like this recipe and give it a go, its full of oniony flavour and brilliant with mash and sausages!

*please check syns
