There is nothing better than a good piece of steak Or chicken but sometimes you really want to pump up the flavour with a good sauce, I’ve got a few I want to share with you starting with..
Syn free peppercorn sauce: not so much as a recipe you will need 2 peppercorn stock pots (syn free and own brand are just as good as knorr) simmer over a low heat with 200ml of water until the stock pots melt and thickens.
Garlic dip: this is a particular favourite with quark or zero fat yogurt (I use a small pot around 200g) add a generous pinch of salt and pepper along with 2 tbsp finely chopped chives and 1tsp garlic granules, mix and leave in the fridge for up to 5 days, ideally leave the dip for 20 minutes before using!
Mushroom sauce: 100g chestnut mushrooms, 1 tbsp cornflour(1syn) 1 tsp bovril, thyme and one beef oxo, pinch salt and pepper, 1 tsp butter (2syns), fry the mushrooms and thyme chopped however you like with the butter, salt and pepper until starting to turn brown, mix together the oxo and cornflour with 300ml water and add to the mushrooms along with the bovril and stir until starting to thicken. Taste and season with more salt and pepper if needed.
