Whether it be for pizza, pasta bake, the base of bolognese or meatballs this basic marinara sauce is family and freezer friendly!
2 tins tomatoes
100 ml water
2 tbsp tomato purée
1 medium onion (finely diced)
1 clove garlic (grated)
1 tsp dried basil and oregano
Salt and pepper
1. Fry off the onion until it softens completely.
2. Add in the garlic and stir-fry until it becomes fragrant.
3. Add the tomato purée and the water and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes.
4. Add in the herbs and tomatoes, stir thoroughly and let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Season to taste with a generous pinch of salt and pepper. (this is especially good with both my vegetarian-friendly meatless meatballs and works well with my Italian meatball recipe that i will upload soon!)
