Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? It depends on what you are using your eggs for! I love a soft boiled egg on top of rice or noodles or a noodle soup. I like a medium egg to make a scotch egg or sometimes on a salad or i like a hard boiled egg for a salad! Easy to snack on too.
Use as many eggs as you need.
Bring a large pan of water to the boil.
When it is on a rolling boil add 1/2 tsp baking powder (helps to make peeling the eggs easier).
Add the eggs.
Set the timer for 4 minutes for relatively soft (slightly too soft for me)
6 for soft but a firm white
8 for mediumish
10-15 minutes hard boiled.
Once your eggs are cooked to your likeness, plunge them into a bowl of iced water and leave them for at least 15 minutes.
Keep them in the fridge and when you want one (my favourite way to peel) tap the shell on the counter lightly all over, run it under water and peel away. It should be very very easy to peel! (there is a skin under the shell, if you manage to get water under that skin the peeling is even easier!)
